Projects

Swan Hills

Speers Edge technical staff were involved in a major resurgence in Swan Hills development corresponding with the implementation of multi-stage stimulated horizontal wellbores targeting low porosity and permeability carbonates within both the lower (platform) and upper (reef) members.  The completion of  detailed reservoir, production, and completion research on multiple fields and associated pools including Carson Creek, Judy Creek, Swan Hills, in addition to completing a pilot drill program at Virginia Hills, provided our team new insights related to tight carbonate development.

Duvernay

The whirlwind of activity targeting the Duvernay formation across the Eastern Shale Basin has continued to show no signs of slowing down.  Speers Edge Consulting has completed detailed regional studies across the informally designated Morningside and Huxley sub-basins and continues to monitor the play as it evolves.  Integrating stratigraphy, petrophysics, rock attributes derived from special core analysis, and wellbore placement, our team has been able to shed new light on Duvernay activity beyond that represented in current industry research reports.

Leduc & Nisku

Stratigraphic and structural mapping of the Nisku and Leduc formations has been completed by out team across much of Southern Alberta including detailed analysis of the Fenn Big Valley field.  3D seismic data was integrated into a fully functioning model of the main Nisku and Leduc reservoirs resulting in the identification of multiple potential infill drilling locations targeting isolated structural highs and untapped attic oil.  The model was also utilized in evaluation the potential for application of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) as an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) scheme.

Wabamun

Due to the steady decline in sour gas production many sour gas processing facilities are now underutilized and starving for H2S.  In an attempt to mediate highly expensive, semi-annual turnarounds at major sour gas processing facilities of a specific client, the Speers Edge team was tasked with evaluating the acquisition potential of all offsetting sour gas pools and infrastructure with the goal of redirecting gas.  Having identified the ideal candidate for purchase, an acquisition process was initiated and successfully closed three months after commencing the review.
