In 2017, Speers Edge Consulting served as sole down-hole technical research advisor to a joint interest consortium focused on regional 3rd party waste disposal needs across Alberta and B.C.  Providing technical justification for current industry supply and demand needs while forecasting future industry disposal requirements, Speers Edge provided multiple recommendations on areas for future disposal needs. 

Our team members have spearheaded and managed multiple cost savings initiatives through innovative approaches to opex reduction, including projects requiring detailed regulatory review and approval.  In 2017, as part of an opex reduction strategy to reducing/eliminating sour gas plant turnarounds our team members served as primary technical advisor in drafting enhanced recovery scheme via acid gas injection with the AER.   

As part of transportation and processing cost savings initiative, members of the Speers Edge team engaged in initial strategic reservoir scouting and evaluation for gas storage options within the Stoddart Belloy A Pool located north of Fort St. John, BC.  In-depth analysis focusing on reservoir quality variations, historic/current bottom-hole pressures, and hydrostatic isolation resulted in the discounting of said pool as a viable gas storage candidate due to dramatic pressure variations observed across the as defined single pool. 

Implementing an entrepreneurial drive focused on identifying new revenue streams or cost savings initiatives has always been a strength of the Speers Edge team whether it be within the upstream or midstream industry.  Responsible for the monitoring of new developments projects offsetting our client's infrastructure and processing facilities, our staff has been successful in identifying numerous 3rd party processing revenue streams, often requiring no additional capex input.   

Possessing a wide range of skills and technical experience relating to big data collection, quality assurance and automation our team members are often tasked with completing assessments for various groups across a client's entire company. Aiding our clients mineral land division, our team has been responsible for the creation of an automated system for monitoring 3rd party activity on freehold royalty and GOR acreage, which ultimately discovered numerous default payments.  

Through their careers, our team members have sat on numerous dispute resolution panels/teams serving as a technical expert or advisor to senior management.  Providing guidance relating to possible litigation claims on matters relating to statement of concerns (SOC), joint operating agreements (JOA), surface landowner objections, and equity ownership disputes are only a few of the complex tasks our team have been peen part of.
