Meghan Speers, P.Geo, B.Sc

Director - President

Holding the position of President of Speers Edge since co-founding the company in December 2017, Meghan has over 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, working various exploration and development positions with roles focused on data coordination, operations, resource assessment and petrophysics for multiple medium to large-cap E&P companies including Trilogy Energy Corporation, EnCana Corporation, ConocoPhillips Canada, and Burlington Resources.

​

In 2015, following two years acting as Co-Chairperson of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologist Student Industry Field Trip (CSPG - SIFT) Ms. Speers made the bold professional move to diversify her career path beyond the oil and gas sector.  Focusing on corporate management and business development for small, new venture start-up companies, Meghan has integrated her business knowledge with her soft skills to steer new companies toward success.

Holding a degree in Geology from Brook University, in addition to maintaining her professional member status with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) Ms. Speers continues to pursue avenues to diversify her portfolio of skills through personal development.

Geoff Speers, P.Geo, B.Sc (Hons)

Director - Secretary & Treasurer

Since co-founding Speers Edge Consulting, Mr. Speers has acted as Secretary and Treasurer bringing with him over 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including skills developed through various exploration and development positions focused on operations, new ventures, research, and business development for mid-cap E&P companies including Pengrowth Energy Corporation and Petrofund Energy Trust.

Mr. Speers has acquired an extensive collection of operational and research experience throughout his career, having worked many of the most active plays across Western Canada including both the Montney and Duvernay formations, in addition to deep-basin, SAGD and heavy oil developments.

​

Through his career Geoff has acquired a complex collection of complementary, multi-disciplinary skills though both formal education and training in addition to workplace professional experiences.  These dynamic and ever evolving skills, including the ability to conceptually design and implement new, cutting-edge technology based innovative approaches to problem solving are what differentiate Mr. Speers from the standard industry geologists.

Mr. Speers graduated from Brandon University with an honours degree in Geology and is professionally registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
